A moving portrait of the queue for the Wimbledon tennis championships. The background spectacle moves into the foreground and onto a queue of film-frames passing through the camera. I filmed from a bicycle along the line of the longest recreational queue in Europe. I grew up nearby and found this background preamble a bigger spectacle than the main event. The camera tracks alongside the queue, frames stutter through the camera paralleling the shuffling individuals. They make a mile-long performance, held together by a ribbon and politeness. It’s an experimental home-movie documentary about the love of tennis and queueing, a local film for everyone, not just London SW19. p>
